Henry’s Table
Seats 30 to 80 · 110 standing
More about this room
A contemporary, adaptable room with its own dance floor and the bar next door. The usual room for a fortieth or a fiftieth that is going to turn into drinks and stay that way.
Celebrations · 288 North Terrace, Adelaide
Ayers House is a bluestone house on North Terrace with six event spaces, including a garden Marquee, for ten guests or four hundred. Birthdays, engagements, formals, balls and high teas.
What are you celebrating?
The fortieth, the fiftieth, the eightieth. A sit-down dinner that turns into dancing, or canapes and drinks with nobody pinned to a seat.
Usually standing, with canapes carried round, a speech halfway through and nobody stuck at the wrong table.
A long table for the family, or the whole wedding party back in one room.
Lunch after the service, or an afternoon high tea that is finished by four.
Three hours and three tiers: sandwiches and a sausage roll, scones with vanilla cream and Beerenberg jam, then macarons and a chocolate ganache tart. T Bar teas and brewed coffee all afternoon.
A sit-down dinner and a dance floor for a year group, with the room at no charge.
A dinner and a dance floor for a club, a society or a faculty.
We hold memorials here regularly, and they do not belong in a table of prices. Tea and sandwiches, lunch and a drink, or a full afternoon: we build it around whatever the family wants.
Prices
Every price below includes three hours of drinks. That is our Premium I list: sparkling, white and red wine, beer, cider, soft drink and juice. Choose how your guests eat, seated or standing, and the price per head covers the food and the drinks together.
Set menu: you choose the dishes, and everyone is served the same. Choice menu: your guests choose on the day, from two or three dishes per course. Canapes are small bites, carried round on trays.

Platters, each for twelve people
Priced per person for the length of your party, so the bill does not move on the day.
Everything charged on consumption to one account, which suits a room that will not drink evenly.
Worth knowing before you ask for one: the $48.50 minimum is more than four hours of the house package at $48, so a tab is rarely the cheaper option. We will price it both ways and tell you which wins for your room.
Wines and vintages are subject to availability.
Where it happens
Seats 30 to 80 · 110 standing
A contemporary, adaptable room with its own dance floor and the bar next door. The usual room for a fortieth or a fiftieth that is going to turn into drinks and stay that way.
Seats 20 to 70 · 100 standing
Our grandest room, hosting balls and parties since 1870: chandelier, bay window and moulded plaster ceiling. The room in the photographs everyone takes.
Seats 80 to 170 · 250 standing
Built around the original stables and coach house under a vaulted glass roof, with its own bar and a huge dance floor with space for live entertainment. The one that takes a ball, a formal, or two hundred and fifty people standing.
Seats 10 to 22
A small, elegant room with one long table, bookshelves down a wall and a marble fireplace. A birthday dinner, a high tea or a christening lunch, with the door shut.
Seats 180 to 350 · 430 standing
Built to order on the front lawns, for anything from Christmas dinner dances to the biggest birthdays and balls.

Ayers House has been a working restaurant since 1973, and everything your guests eat is cooked here on the day. There is no catering company between you and the kitchen.

Your event manager
Your event manager takes the brief, builds the run sheet, books the DJ, handles the dietaries and the timings, and is in the room on the day. You are not ringing four suppliers from work.
Tell us the shape of it once. We come back with a floor plan, a run sheet and a single quote covering the room, the food, the drinks and anything hired in. Changes go to one person, not four, and the figure you are given is the figure on the invoice.
Every supplier in Adelaide worth using has worked in these rooms, and we will tell you who.
The speeches that run long, the twelve extra people, the cousin who announced a dietary at the door, the music that needs turning down and then up again: all of it lands on us rather than on you.
You should be at your own party, not working it. That is the actual product.
Before you get in touch
Yes, and most people do. We set the tables in white linen with printed menus and light the room; flowers, balloons, a backdrop, photographs of the birthday girl at eighteen, all of that is yours to bring. Tell your event manager what is coming and they will give you access beforehand. Nothing goes on the original walls or the plaster, and open flame has to sit in glass, which is the whole list of rules in a house built in 1846.
All three. A DJ for five hours with light-up letters is $1,720 through us, a photobooth for three hours from $773, or bring your own and we will sort out the power, the bump-in and where they stand. The Conservatory and Henry’s Table both have a dance floor already in the room, so nothing has to be hired in to make one.
Final numbers are confirmed with your event manager a few days out and that is the number you pay on, so a handful of late yeses or apologies is not a problem. If the number moves far enough to change the room, we will tell you as soon as we see it rather than on the day.
Children to twelve are $45, including soft drink and juice, and twelve to seventeen pay the menu price plus $20 for soft drinks. Every course already carries vegetarian, vegan, gluten free and dairy free dishes at no extra charge; send the list with your final numbers. Bring your own cake and tell us when you want it to appear: we cut it and serve it on our cake stands, at no charge. The Conservatory, the courtyard and the ground floor are accessible, and since the house dates from 1846, tell us what you need and we will walk the route your guests will take. The tram stops at the front door, and there is street and station parking in the surrounding blocks.
Ask about your date
Every enquiry goes to one of our event managers, who will check your date and come back to you personally. We would love to hear what you have in mind.
